On 29th of September in Rijeka, the County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar promotes the Hazadr Final Conference and presents the official opening of ATARC - Adriatic Training and Research Centre.

15-16.07.2015 - The Sixth Steering Committee Meeting in Pula (Croatia)

The sixth and last steering committee meeting was organised and held in Pula (Region of Istria). Representatives of all partner institutions gathered and discussed about project activities which are still to be implemented and further capitalisation of the project results. Main focus was given Adriatic training and research Center established by Primorsko goranska county and future usage of the ATLAS. After completing of all project tasks, all project results will be presented during final conference scheduled for 29th September 2015 in Rijeka.

09-10.12.2014 - The Fifth Steering Committee Meeting in Tirana (Albania)

The fifth Steering Committee meeting of HAZADR project was organized on 9th and 10th of December 2014 in Tirana (Albania). After the welcome speech of the political delegates, the Apulia Region introduced the state of the art of HAZADR and the agenda of the meeting. The discussion focused on the overall project performance and discussed some important issues of the different WP, such as the state of the art about the Adriatic Training and Research Centre, the first demo of Atlas which provides the simultaneous view in real time of several key-information related to the risk evolution in the Adriatic sea and the oil-spill dynamic when approaching the shorelines, the scenarios for the third exercise in the South of Adriatic sea.

04-05.07.2014 - HAZADR partnership gathered in Zara

The Fourth Steering Committee meeting of HAZADR project was organized on the 3rd and 4th July 2014 in Zadar (HR). The partnership focused on the lesson learnt after the first HAZADR exercise called Virex 2014, the presentation of the preliminary scenario of the crossborder exercise 2 in Emilia-Romagna Region – Marche Region and the creation of a warning dispatching system for the Adriatic coastal areas.  In specific, the CNR, scientific coordinator and leader of WP3, presented state of the art of the ATLAS which provides the simultaneous view in real time of several key-information related to the risk evolution in the Adriatic sea and the oil-spill dynamic when approaching the shorelines. Finally, the Primorsko Goranska Zupanija presented the main drivers of the Adriatic Training and Research Centre. The refurbishment of the Centre is confirmed and it is likely to be refurbished during the spring time 2015, while the educational training packages should start within the first semester 2015.

05.05.2014 – Notes from the project meeting in Piran

The Third Steering Committee meeting was organized in Piran on 20-21 March 2014 at the premises of the Marine Biology Station. During the meeting, the consortium assessed the overall project performance and discussed important issues like the finalization of the ATLAS, the vulnerability maps and the new scenarios for the exercises.

At this regard, the management board approved the proposal of implementing 3 interregional exercises in 3 Adriatic areas: the first one based in Zadar, with the participation of the other Croatian Counties Operational Centre, Marche Region and the Apulia Region); the second one, to be organized in the coastal border between Marche and Emilia-Romagna Region); the third one, to be organized nearby the Apulian costs and including also an oil spill virtual projection towards Albania and Montenegro in the following 48 hours). This kind of scenario, approved by the SC, consider the juridical constrains to a larger exercise, the demanding cooperative approach; the requirements of the application form, the pragmatism and the need of testing the ATLAS potential.

02.10.2013 – Second Steering Committee held in Rijeka, HR

The County of Primorsko Goranska hosted in Rijeka (Croatia) the second meeting of the Steering Committee. After the welcome speech of the political delegates, the Apulia Region introduced the state of the art of HAZADR and the objective of the meeting. The discussion focused on the development of the Real Time Risk Prevention System (ATLAS).

The conceptual model, the capitalization process and the partners’ tasks was further enhanced by the organization of an internal capitalization seminar with some external speakers. In particular, REMPEC, in the person of Gabino Gonzales, introduced the partnership to the objectives of MEDESS-4MS project and the possible synergies between HAZADR Project and other existing systems and databases owned or known by REMPEC. Alongside, the CMCC - Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change, in the person of Svitlana Liubartseva presented the AFS/MEDSLIK-II oil spill forecasting and hazard mapping services. Rita Lecci presented the Adriatic Forecasting System. All these issues will be a matter of a Memorandum of Understanding.

Having regard to the regional oil-spill detection programmes, all partners involved gave a short introduction about the actions to be developed in the concerned regions and counties. Most of the partners will purchase response equipment like dispersants, ocean booms, skimmers etc.. while Marche Region develops a specific programme with the fisherman, that get equipped with smartphones to take photo of toxic / oil waves.

During the meeting, the first scenarios for exercises and simulations in Northern and Southern Adriatic were presented by Apulia Region

The County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar presents the preliminary inputs towards the creation of the Adriatic Training and Research Centre. The mission of a Training and Research Centre is to facilitate proactive problem-driven research and training on the topics related to combating, pollution of the sea by oil, hazardous and noxious substances in Adriatic region. The „philosophy of the educational packages“ will be in line with the trainings provided by CEDRE and REMPEC.
